Are you a small or micro business in Newark and Sherwood looking to grow, increase productivity or become more environmentally sustainable?
Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched a business grant scheme that will support local small businesses and contribute towards the sustainable economic growth of the district.
What’s available?
- A number of grants between £2,500 and £10,000
- Funding for projects that support:

- Job creation, productivity and growth
- Environmental sustainability

- Minimum 40% match funding required
- All funding must be spent by 31 January 2026
Who can apply?
- Micro or small businesses (up to 50 full-time employees)
- Based in Newark and Sherwood
- Trading for at least 12 months
What can be funded?
Eligible projects may include:
- Purchasing small-scale equipment, software or services to introduce new products, processes or services to market where it will increase productivity
- Investments that improve operational efficiency, leading to job creation or increased productivity
- Sustainability initiatives, such as energy-efficient equipment, technology that reduces carbon emissions and improvements to reduce environmental impact

Rural England Prosperity Fund Grant Programme

Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched the REPF Grant Programme, designed to support the growth and resilience of the local rural economy by offering capital funding to community organisations and rural enterprises in eligible areas the district.
What’s available?
- Grants from £10,000 to £40,000
- For capital projects that grow the rural economy or enhance community infrastructure
- Community organisations must contribute 20% match funding
- Rural enterprises must contribute 40% match funding
Who can apply?
- Charities, clubs, and voluntary groups
- Higher and Further Education providers
- Small and micro businesses (under 50 employees)
- Other legally constituted organisations
Applicants must be based in a rural area of Newark and Sherwood (excluding Newark Town, Balderton, and parts of Clipstone). To check if your area is eligible, visit the DEFRA website or email UKSPF@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk.
What can be funded?
- Rural tourism and leisure projects
- Community hubs and green spaces
- EV charging points and sustainability schemes
- Heritage and cultural site improvements
- Equipment for food production and more
Projects must be completed by 31 January 2026.
