Car parking enforcement

We are jointly responsible for parking enforcement in our area, alongside Nottinghamshire County Council and six other district councils.

Since 2008 most parking restrictions can be enforced by Civil Enforcement Officers (traffic wardens) working on behalf of the District Council. This includes the council’s pay and display car parks, single/double yellow lines, loading bays, disabled parking bays, taxi bays and bus stops.

Parking in Newark and Sherwood is covered by the NSDC Civil Enforcement Off Street Parking Places Order 2017 (PDF File, 963kb)

Paying your parking fine

The easiest way to pay your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) is online. You can also pay by telephone by credit or debit card. The 24-hour automated payment line is 0345 5201357. Choose option one. Make sure you have your vehicle details and PCN number ready.

Pay by post using the payment slip attached to the PCN to Central Processing Unit, PO Box 10282, Nottingham NG17 0DX. Allow two working days for 1st class post and five working days for 2nd class post. Cheques should be made payable to Nottinghamshire County Council.

Challenging a parking fine

If you receive a parking ticket or Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and wish to challenge it you can challenge your PCN online on the Nottinghamshire County Council website.

You can also send your challenge in writing to the address above. If you need more details on how to challenge your PCN telephone 0345 520 1357 and select option 2, then option 1.

Parking near schools and CCTV car

The Notts Parking Partnership is warning drivers not to park on school 'keep clear' markings. The county CCTV car is now patrolling schools to help discourage dangerous and inconsiderate parking near schools.

Parking on school ‘keep clear’ markings can seriously impact road safety and endanger children. Please only park in marked areas and help us keep our school children safe.

Motorists caught parking on restricted areas near schools or in bus stops will be issued with a £70 fine.
