Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with the Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE) are bringing back free family ‘cook and eat’ classes to Rainworth.

In this seven-week course, you will learn how to cook healthy low cost meals for you and your family in a social and informal environment delivered by friendly tutors.

Classes will start on Thursday 9 November, 10am until 12.30pm, at Rainworth Social Action Hub, Kirklington Road, Rainworth NG221 0JR.

Councillor Susan Crosby, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Leisure for Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “After such a success in Newark I am delighted we are able to offer this course to the residents of Rainworth.

“These classes are a great way to learn how to cook tasty meals on a budget, for the whole family, whilst also completing a qualification. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested. If you would like to sign up, please get in touch.”

Diane Holmes, Head of Curriculum Strategy and Partnerships at ATTFE said: “Supporting local communities is at the heart of our work at ATTFE College. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Newark and Sherwood District Council on this much needed initiative which supports our vision to reduce food poverty in the Mid Notts area.

“These weekly sessions will empower individuals to engage in lifelong learning to develop key life skills, learning how to cook healthy, affordable recipes that can also be used in the home environment.”

Each week the group will learn a new recipe, which you will cook and eat together at the end of the session. Children are welcome to attend, and all ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Places will be limited and must be booked in advanced. To book or for more information please email or call 01623 441310.
