Arts development

Newark and Sherwood has many creative groups and organisations and a variety of arts venues.

Our arts development officer supports local individuals and groups in developing sustainable and high quality arts activities and initiatives.

With our partners we can provide support, advice and grant funding for a variety of arts initiatives.

We can also help promote the many opportunities available for everyone to take part in arts and cultural activities across the district.

We are keen to help with projects including:

  • drawing and painting
  • arts and crafts
  • music
  • drama and theatre
  • dance
  • film and photography
  • graffiti art

Find an art group or activity near you in our arts directory.

Groups that we currently work with include:

  • art groups
  • men in sheds
  • dementia care groups
  • village halls and community centres
  • children and play groups
  • arts festivals
  • choirs and theatre groups
  • local charities and volunteer groups
  • knitting and sewing groups
  • parish councils and libraries
  • environmental groups

Support with event promotion

If you’re an arts professional, community group, local individual or arts organisation within the district, we may be able to help with promoting your events.

Please send details of your event to our communications team pr@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk and we’ll add the event details to our website events listings and social media accounts.
