Heritage Open Days is back this month with a range of free events taking place throughout the district from Friday 9 to Sunday 18 September. Bringing people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history, the nationwide festival offers the chance to experience local attractions for free as well as attending special events and exploring places which aren’t usually open to the public.

Local young performers will once again have the chance to shine on stage as the Palace Theatre Newark brings back its junior panto auditions this September. On Sunday 11th, dancers aged between 8 and 18 years old are invited to attend an open audition at the Theatre for the opportunity to join the ensemble cast of this year’s festive show Cinderella, delighting friends, family and theatregoers this Christmas.

A chance to see lost views of Newark is coming next month as the National Civil War Centre – Newark Museum unveils 10 artworks from their reserve collection. The free exhibition, running as part of the national Heritage Open Days scheme, will open for one week from Saturday 10th to 17th September and offers the opportunity to see scenes of the town through the years.
