Residents are being invited to have their say on a review of local Conservation Areas in Newark and Southwell.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is currently undertaking reviews to ensure the designated areas are still relevant and meaningful.

Eight new properties have been created on the site of a former fire station on Boundary Road in Newark. The properties, which have been built by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Edwinstowe-based construction company Robert Woodhead Ltd, form part of an ambitious housing delivery programme to build up to 335 new homes over five years.

Funding has been approved to secure the future of one of Newark and Sherwood’s best loved and most important landmarks. At Monday night’s Policy and Finance Committee, Councillors voted to allocate £570,000 for repairs to Newark Castle, following a recent Condition Survey of the site.
