Big boost for recycling as even more items can go in your silver bin!

Recycling in Newark and Sherwood is about to get simpler. From 1 April 2026, residents will be able to recycle more everyday household items – reducing confusion, boosting recycling rates and helping to protect the environment.

A number of parks in the district could receive significant improvements totalling more than £500,000 thanks to Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Development Plan. 

Putting litter in its place this spring

The Great British Spring Clean has returned for 2026, and Newark and Sherwood District Council is once again backing the national campaign to help keep local streets, green spaces and communities clean, safe and welcoming.

Community produce scheme returns to support residents

Local growers and allotment owners across Newark and Sherwood are being encouraged to donate unused fruit and vegetables as part of the Council’s Crop Drop scheme, which helps ensure surplus home-grown produce is shared within the community rather than going to waste.
