Garden recycling service

Did you know the Council provides a garden recycling service across the district?

For just £37 a year you get:

  • A brown bin
  • An all year-round collection service, every two weeks between March and November, and monthly from December to February
  • Facility to dispose of your Christmas tree (cut up) in your garden waste bin in January

The service runs from 1 April to 31 March. There are no concessions or pro-rata for joining the service part-way through the year. Extra bins are available at a further £37 each.

You can order or renew your brown garden recycling bin using our online form or alternatively, using our resident portal 'MyNS' where you can track the status of the request.

Upon receipt of payment you’ll be sent a sticker to place on your bin. Please ensure this is clearly placed on your bin as only bins with stickers will be collected.

You can check to confirm your garden waste collection days for 2024/25 on our website.

The operational costs of providing this service have continued to increase year on year and while we have been able to freeze the cost previously, this year we have had to increase the cost of the annual garden recycling service by £2, from £35 to £37, in order to continue providing this service across Newark and Sherwood.

By agreeing to pay for the service you will be accepting the garden recycling service terms and conditions 2024/25 (PDF File, 151kb)
