At the cabinet meeting held on 24 September 2024, Newark and Sherwood District Council agreed to transfer £59,696.76 to Ollerton Town FC for improvements at the Walesby Lane Sports Ground.

The money comes out of the section 106 provision for open space off site sports improvements in Ollerton held by the District Council and formed part of the S106 contributions from Avant Homes on their Wellow Road development.

To assist more disabled residents with essential home modifications and adaptations that improve their quality of life, Newark and Sherwood District Council have raised their Discretionary Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) to £30,000 and their Minor Works Grant to £10,000.

The District Council has taken further enforcement action to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and purported drug-dealing in and around the Yorke Drive estate in Newark by obtaining two Closure Orders from Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.  This follows extensive partnership work between Newark and Sherwood District Council and Nottinghamshire Police.

On Tuesday 1 October, the District Council will be hosting its second ‘Alive With Music’ meeting to discuss this and would love to include as many people who are involved with music in the district as possible.  The event starts at 6pm and will conclude at 8pm.

As welcoming crowds are expected to line the route of stage 4 of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men’s Race Newark and Sherwood District Council has issued advance warning of possible traffic delays through the district.

Spectators are welcome to come and see stage 4 of the race, which is due to arrive in Blidworth at around 12:25pm. The race will then continue through the district until it arrives at Sconce and Devon Park in Newark at around 2:15pm.

Robert Kiddey was a sculptor, artist and teacher, born in Nottingham in 1900. His work is visible across Nottinghamshire, including on the Nottingham’s Council House and County Hall. Many of his works depict the working people of Nottinghamshire, including coalminers, metalworkers and agricultural labourers.
