Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Great British Spring Clean is back from Friday 21 March to Sunday 6 April and we are delighted to be taking part!
Thousands of #LitterHeroes across the country all come together to collect rubbish and enhance the fantastic work of our environmental street scene team! This is environmental action at its best and we can help you organise local community litter picking events and take away all of the collected rubbish for you!

Become a Green Champion in Newark and Sherwood
If you are an individual, a school, local community group, Parish Council or a group or friends or neighbours and would like to organise a voluntary litter pick in your area, we can support you!

Be rewarded for litter picking and recycling right with LitterLotto
LitterLotto® is an exciting new initiative which will help everyone to recycle right, keep neighbourhoods clean, and reward residents for binning waste.
The LitterLotto® mobile app, new to Newark and Sherwood, has two key features for use at home or on the go, each offering its users a chance to win weekly prizes.
The first feature uses AI Waste technology to help residents determine what waste goes in which bin when you are at home. The AtHome™ feature in the app allows users to take a photo of an item to see if it can be recycled or not. The app will then guide you on whether it’s recyclable and which bin you should pop it in! Every correctly disposed item qualifies for local and national prize draws, with a guaranteed monthly £100 Jackpot up for grabs for Newark and Sherwood residents as well as additional chances to win a weekly £1,000 national jackpot! The more you recycle, the greater your chances of winning.
Plus, for each correct entry, users earn "LitterLotto® Coins" which can be redeemed for prizes or extra jackpot entries in the Coin Store.

Another chance to be rewarded for recycling right with Green Rewards
The Green Rewards app works hand in hand with the LitterLotto app! Through the app you’ll be able to earn ‘Green Points’ by reporting what sustainable actions you’re taking including reporting your recycling!
Each month two winners are picked to win a voucher to spend locally! One winner is the resident to earn the most points that month, and the other is drawn from all residents who logged actions that month!

Our Street Scene and Environmental Enforcement teams are out and about, day in, day out, come rain or shine to keep your streets clean, your bins emptied and our parks and green spaces beautiful.

We always need your help though in keeping our area safe and clean, you can do this by:
