Business growth and resilience programme
Applications for the Business Growth and Resilience Programme
Please note applications for the programme are currently closed.
The Business Growth and Resilience Programme was launched in 2021 by Newark and Sherwood District Council to provide local businesses with support and guidance post-pandemic. The programme linked business service specialists with local businesses and provided them with the latest guidance from industry experts in order to help them adapt to new opportunities and challenges. Through the support offered, businesses were able to modify their ways of working, assist in identifying new markets or products, establish new supply chains or provide brokerage for skills and training.
Support offered included tailored workshops and sessions, including 1-2-1 mentoring, reviews of business models, training opportunities and more.
Those who participated in the programme were also eligible to apply for a discretionary grant. This grant was to be spent by the local business in any way they see fit to help their recovery and growth.
The 2021 – 2022 programme saw 80 businesses receive specialist advice and guidance across four key business sectors: manufacturing and construction, accommodation, retail food and beverage and health and social care.

Following an incredibly successful first year, the District Council opened the programme up to businesses in the retail, food and beverage sector in January 2023. The programme’s second round has been funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and all places have now been filled.
