Newark and Sherwood Community Lottery is a weekly lottery that raises money for good causes in the Newark and Sherwood district. The Lottery was launched in 2021 by Newark and Sherwood District Council, to help support community projects in the local area. Newark and Sherwood Community Lottery operates on the principle of raising money within the community, for the community. It aims to empower local good causes to raise money in a fun and effective way that also benefits residents.
The lucky winner from Newark, who would like to remain anonymous, said: "I love supporting my cause! I'm going to buy some treats and put some into savings!"
Players have a 50 in 1 chance of winning, which are better odds than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery. Prizes range from extra lottery tickets to retail vouchers, all the way up to the £25,000 jackpot. There is a draw every Saturday night when a six-digit winning combination is picked. Each ticket has six numbers between 0 and 9, prizes will be given to players with tickets that match the first or last 2 to 6 numbers from the winning combination. Match all six and you win the jackpot.
Councillor Paul Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and Community Relations at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “The Community Lottery is a fantastic initiative that not only supports hard working community groups but gives people an opportunity to win fantastic prizes. It’s raised lots already for groups who are in need of funding and it’s great to know our district is now home to a £25,000 jackpot winner.
“A huge congratulations to the winner but also a massive thank you to everyone who has taken part and contributed to supporting community groups across our District.”
Each ticket purchased also gives players an entry into the ‘Super Draw’, meaning more tickets gives players more chances to win. In this week’s draw, players will be in with a chance to win the all-new flagship iPhone 17 Pro. Player’s can also opt for a £1000 cash alternative.
