New online application launched for the housing register
Posted on: Thursday, November 27, 2025Newark and Sherwood District Council is pleased to share that residents can now apply for social housing using a new, easy-to-use online application form through the District Council’s online platform called ‘MyHome’.
The new application form is designed to be simple, and user friendly and already numerous applications have already been registered as part of the launch.
For those without access to the internet, a paper version of the form is available by contacting the District Council on 01636 650 000 or by visiting Castle House on Great North Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 1BY or Ollerton Advice Office on Sycamore Road, New Ollerton, Newark, Notts, NG22 9PS
Councillor Lee Brazier, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Our platform MyHome provides those looking for their new home with a simple and straight-forward process making it easier to register and find the home that suits you.
“There’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and we’re really pleased we can offer a better way to register interest.”
The new approved housing allocations policy will be implemented by 31 March 2026, giving everyone time to get used to the new system.
To fill out the online housing application form, applicants will need to create a MyHome account first. Once created, go to 'Applications' under the 'My hub' header on the MyHome dashboard, then click 'Create application'.
Once complete, applicants will be assessed to determine which banding they can bid on. Once complete, they can bid for properties they are eligible for via online adverts through MyHome or by the phone. Helpful video guides are available on the Council’s website to show how to apply and bid for properties.
If you had an application before April 2025, you should have received instructions on how to set up your MyHome account. If you have trouble seeing your application or tenancy, please contact the Council on 01636 650 000 who will help.
