Severe Weather Emergency Protocol is active

Posted on: Wednesday, February 5, 2025

Due to the ongoing severe weather forecast, Newark and Sherwood District Council has activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) for tonight (Wednesday 5 February). We are continuously monitoring and assessing the weather conditions on a daily basis.

SWEP is a provision the Council puts in place during times of severe weather (e.g. cold temperatures, flooding or extreme heat) to support those sleeping rough to provide them with temporary safe space.

If you are aware of someone sleeping rough, please direct them to contact Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Housing Options Team by calling 01636 650 000. You can also make a referral online via the Street Link website: https://thestreetlink.org.uk/
