How Careline 24/7 is making residents feel safer and reassured in their homes
Posted on: Thursday, December 4, 2025Across the East Midlands, more and more residents are choosing Careline 24/7 for their independent living service.
Now extending beyond Newark and Sherwood, the service now supports those living in Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Gedling, Mansfield and into Lincolnshire. The number of private customers has increased by 143% since September 2023 with more expected as the expansion into neighbouring districts grows.
Despite an increased volume of customers and calls, the Careline 24/7 service has achieved answering over 99% of calls within 60 seconds, surpassing the industry standard of 97.5%.
They have also recently launched a brand-new referral form on their website, making it easier than ever to apply.
The service includes an alarm unit with a pendant connected to a monitoring centre, which monitors alarms 24/7. When the alarm is activated, the monitoring centre which is based in Newark and Sherwood, will take the most appropriate action based on the information provided at that time and any known information about the user.
The service, which is run by Newark and Sherwood District Council, is supporting residents across the East Midlands.
Customer Michelle has praised the service for supporting her to live more independently, she said: “The service has been a godsend to me. Since I’ve lived alone after my husband passed away, I’ve had several falls and injuries, and it was recommended that I should sign up to Careline 24/7.
“I’ve not got a bad word to say about it. They helped me when I fell and fractured my back, they helped me when I lost the feelings in my leg related to the fall, they’re just a button a way.
“It gives me reassurance. I press the button, the box makes some very strange noises then you get a nice and friendly voice coming through asking if okay, if they want to contact friends or family or if I need paramedics. This just gives me the reassurance that that there is always somebody at the end of the little red button.”
Councillor Lee Brazier, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Our aim is to ensure more residents can benefit from this fantastic service supporting them to live independently in their homes. This is a genuine life saver to so many and we’re keen to see it grow and support more people.
“Our response times for the service is excellent and there’s no minimum contract length and no exit fees so if it isn’t for you, you can just cancel!”
