Join your nearest estate walkabout to have your say on your neighbourhood

Newark and Sherwood District Council is launching its estate walkabouts and both tenants and residents are invited to join.

Estate walkabouts are a chance for local people to join District Council officers, Councillors and partner organisations as they ‘walk and talk’ raising community, estate based concerns and help to contribute to the overall presentation of neighbourhoods.

A full list of walkabouts, including dates and meeting places, can be found on the District Council website here: https://www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/estatewalkabouts/.

The first of more than 40 walkabouts throughout the spring and summer takes place on Tuesday 8 April in Bleasby and Thurgarton. Local residents are asked to meet at 10am at Orchard Close, Bleasby, Nottingham NG14 7GF.

Everyone is encouraged to join a walkabout near them and engage with the Council to share their thoughts and concerns directly. This initiative encompasses Newark and Sherwood District Council’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and tenant-driven decision-making.

Suzanne Shead, Director of Housing, Health and Wellbeing at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Participating in their nearest estate walkabouts offers our residents and tenants a unique opportunity to directly influence their local neighbourhood’s development, voice their concerns, and collaborate with us to foster a vibrant neighbourhood.

“These walks are designed to build a strong sense of community, ensure transparency in our processes, and involve you in the decisions that affect your living environment.

“Involving tenants and residents means we’re involving the whole community, and we’re keen to involve as many people as possible to gather as much feedback as possible.”
