West End Production of Blood Brothers comes to the Palace Theatre Newark
Posted on: Thursday, August 15, 2024The Palace Theatre Newark welcomes you to the award-winning West End Production of Blood Brothers - the biggest musical production to come to the Newark stage.
Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.
Running from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 October, don’t miss out on the opportunity to watch this timeless performance! A British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter will also be in attendance on Wednesday 23 October, so that deaf or hard of hearing participants can enjoy the performance.
Bill Kenwright Ltd’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. The Palace Theatre opened in 1920 and has been the heart of the local entertainment scene ever since and is the perfect venue for this fantastic production.
Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts at Newark and Sherwood District Council said, “This is big news for Newark. The Palace Theatre is the heart of the community which has performed many wonderful shows, but we are very excited that for the first time ever, a touring West End musical will be performed on its beautiful stage.”
“Blood Brothers is a timeless classic which helps us understand inequality and justice. As one of the West End’s longest running shows, we are proud to welcome Blood Brothers to Newark. It looks set to be an unmissable event for local residents but also for local schools who are studying the play.”
This autumn will see Vivienne Carlyle returning to the iconic role of Mrs. Johnstone, having received nightly standing ovations for her powerful and poignant performance in the West End production. Sean Jones and Joe Sleight return to the production as twins Mickey and Eddie, with Gemma Brodrick reprising the role of Linda.
Prepare to laugh and cry as the cast take you through a roller coaster of emotions.
