Estate walkabouts
Newark and Sherwood District Council has relaunched its estate walkabout programme for tenants and residents.
Although walkabouts have continued throughout the pandemic with a restricted number of District Council officers, these were closed to members of the public to ensure the safety of tenants and staff.
Estate walkabouts are a great way for tenants to meet with District Council officers from the tenancy and repairs and maintenance teams and address any issues, such as helping to keep local communities’ clean, tidy and problem free. Those who attend will meet other residents and agencies involved in maintaining acceptable standards in the local community.
Newark and Sherwood District Council aims to resolve any issue identified on the walkabouts within four weeks, which could involve working with to tidy gardens or replacing bulbs in street lamps.
All walkabouts start at 10am and the full schedule with meeting places can be found on the District Council’s housing website.
In September, nine estate walkabouts are scheduled taking place all over the District including in Balderton, Farndon, Boughton, Blidworth and Hawtonville.
Tim Wendels, Chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Homes and Communities Committee, said: “It’s great that estate walkabouts have relaunched once again and we encourage tenants and residents to get involved and help make our communities a better place to live.
“These estate walkabouts are a chance to speak face-to-face with our officers and local agencies about the appearance of your local community and how we can work together to improve things.”
