Severe Weather Emergency Protocol
Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is a provision the Council puts in place during times of severe weather (e.g. cold temperatures, flooding or extreme heat) to support those sleeping rough to provide them with temporary safe space.
Our commitment is to ensure that anyone identified as sleeping rough will be provided with suitable accommodation.
SWEP is NOT currently active.
When SWEP is active, we contact rough sleepers we are already aware of and let residents know via our Facebook page.
During this time, if you are aware of someone sleeping rough, you can make a referral online via the Street Link website: https://thestreetlink.org.uk/
You can look at the latest weather forecast for the area on the Met Office website.
