District Council Chair Embarks on Personal Challenge for Three Local Charities

Posted on: Thursday, February 27, 2025

To mark her tenure as Chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Jean Hall is embarking on a personal challenge to celebrate our remarkable district.

Over two weeks – one in March and one in May – Councillor Hall will be walking and cycling across Newark and Sherwood. Along her journey, she will showcase our stunning area, promote eco-friendly travel, and connect with our fantastic community groups.

Councillor Hall is undertaking this challenge to raise funds for three local charities: Nottinghamshire Mind, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, and Newark Women’s Aid. These organisations perform vital work, and Councillor Hall has been proud to support them during her tenure.

The first leg of her challenge begins on Monday, 3rd March, when she will hop on a Brompton Bike outside Castle House in Newark and cycle her way to Southwell via Lowdham and all the surrounding villages.

Donations can be made to the three charities on her Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/team/chairperson-challenge

Councillor Jean Hall, Chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council, said, “It has been an absolute honour to serve as Chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council. I have had an incredible year attending events across the district. I’ve been deeply moved by the vibrant and diverse community we have, and to celebrate this amazing district, I have decided to take on a challenge to raise funds for the three brilliant charities I have supported during my time as Chair.

“I will walk and bike the length and breadth of our lovely district whilst raising funds for three very important charities that do vital work in our district. I’m also hoping to connect with some of our fantastic community groups along the way. I can’t wait to get started!

“Your donations can make a real difference! Please consider contributing to these worthy causes, and together we can support mental health, protect our wildlife, and aid those in need.”
