Newark and Sherwood District Council invite businesses across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire to attend its fourth annual Economic Growth Conference on Thursday, 10 October, in The Renaissance at Kelham Hall. This year’s conference theme is ‘Technology, skills and the future of business in Newark and Sherwood.’

Through unique, engaging, and entertaining keynote speakers and workshops facilitated by leading experts, attendees will receive valuable insight into what recent advances in technology will mean for their business, as well as what skills are becoming most essential in our increasingly digital world.

This year’s conference’s keynote speaker will be Dr Paul Redmond, employment guru, leading expert on generations and the future of work, and author of The Graduate Jobs Formula. Dr Redmond will share his insights on how to engage and motivate today’s multi-generational workplace, as well as the impacts of new technologies on employment, particularly AI and robotics.

Matt Lamb, Director of Planning and Growth at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Our district is full of amazing and unique businesses which play an important part in growing our local economy and allowing talent to fulfil its potential. The Economic Growth Conference is a great opportunity for the businesses in Newark and Sherwood, and further afield, to gain important knowledge to help their businesses grow, including this time around some insight on future technologies.

“It’s great to see the event running again this year and if you are interested in attending, please get in touch with us as soon as possible to book your spot.”

Host for the day will be Looch, a world class mind reader and entertainer with over 20 years of experience combining his extraordinary skills, humour, energy, and professionalism for clients including Amazon, Google and KPMG.

Other presentations will provide attendees with information on upcoming skills development opportunities and the latest technologies being used by local companies. In addition, The Knowledge Ladder will present ‘an anatomy of a cyber-attack’ with details on how to respond to one, and what steps to take to protect your company in an increasingly digital world.

There will also be two workshops for delegates to choose from. One will focus on technology and AI, while the other will cover leadership and innovation skills. Further details about these workshops will be made available soon.

This year the event will be sponsored by East Midlands Chamber, who have been providing a series of support schemes for businesses in Newark and Sherwood.
