With almost everyone having access to a camera these days, whether it’s on a phone, digital camera or old school film, Newark and Sherwood District Council want to see the best shots of the district.

“With the summer here, now is a great time to get out and about to capture the best parts of our great district,” explains Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council.

“That’s why we are launching an exciting competition to uncover the secret talent amongst our residents. We have put aside a special display area in the Castle House reception to display the winning entries.

“We have two categories, and under 17 category and an open category. We will pick 4 under 17 winners and 2 from the open category who best capture the district.

“We want to find pictures that really get into the heart of our wonderful district, that capture the diverse nature of it. That’s why we have 4 different categories, ‘Town Centres’ and ‘Out and About’ for our younger photographers and ‘Industrial and Architecture’ and ‘Nature and Rural’ for the open competition.”

The photographic competition launches on 29 July 2024 and runs until 28 September 2024. The winners will be picked out by a panel of judges and the final images will be blown up and displayed in a prominent position in the Castle House reception area.

The winners will also share in a total of £400 in cash prizes.
