Future plans for Clipstone and Ollerton to be revealed at community drop-in events

Plans for the regeneration of two Nottinghamshire towns are being shared with local people in Ollerton and Clipstone this month. The drop-in events are taking place on:

  • Wednesday 10 July and Wednesday 17 July, 12pm – 6pm – Clipstone Village Hall, 90 Church Road, Clipstone, NG21 9DL
  • Thursday 11 July, 3-7pm – Ollerton and Boughton Town Hall, Sherwood Drive, Ollerton, NG22 9PP

Two separate projects, with Government funding totalling £20m allocated, have been developed with local people to address the individual needs of residents and businesses in each locality.

Ollerton’s plans include a brand-new town centre with a public sector service hub, home to services of the Town and District Councils; a brand-new state-of-the-art library and community space; community cinema; public and retail spaces and new homes.

Clipstone’s plans include brand-new high-quality sports facilities including cricket and football pitches, in partnership with the Clipstone Miners’ Welfare Community Trust, plus a new visitor centre and playpark at the Vicar Water Country Park, all within sight of the Clipstone Colliery headstocks. It will also feature new business units intended to help small and start-up businesses grow.

The public is invited to see the plans and architect’s visualisations, ask questions and input into the project ahead of plans being submitted for approval in autumn. 

Councillor Paul Peacock, Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, who also represents Clipstone, added, “We have an exciting, once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a prosperous new future for everyone in Ollerton and Clipstone. Our residents deserve the best facilities, homes and opportunities and we are working hard to make this happen.

“They now have the opportunity to have their say on how these plans are delivered, we’re asking residents to come along to any of the events, and share their views with us, take a look at our plans and help us to shape the future of their community.

“Both towns have a heritage defined by hard working people with a strong community spirit. We’re asking both communities to help us to build on this heritage and deliver these projects to create towns we can all be proud of.”
