Receive expert advice on how to grow your business
Posted on: Thursday, December 7, 2023Newark and Sherwood District Council are again offering a series of one-hour sessions for local businesses who wish to receive free specialist and local support to help them grow and thrive.
Organised in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, the sessions will be held on a one-to-one basis with Dawn Fear, one of the Nottinghamshire’s Business Advisors. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive valuable advice and guidance on how to grow and expand their operations, pose questions directly related to their business, get practical tips and obtain incisive information.
The surgery is aimed at established businesses who have been trading for three years and above. In addition, depending on your business needs, a follow-up business visit can be arranged.
The surgeries will be taking place on Thursday, 25 January 2024, at Newton House, Newark; the home of The Barcode Warehouse’s Innovation and Customer Experience Centre (ICE)., There are seven sessions throughout the day and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Councillor Matthew Spoors, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “I am really pleased that we can support local businesses and once again offer these one-to-one sessions in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council. They provide a great opportunity for business who are looking to expand and grow but are unsure where to start and have questions they would like answer.
Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to helping businesses across the district grow and flourish and supporting them with business surgeries such as this one to provide them with expert guidance on how to move their business forward.

Businesses will also have the opportunity to see the ICE Centre, and experience first-hand some of the best in class technologies available across industries, including Healthcare, T&L, Retail, Hospitality, Manufacturing and Warehousing.

The Business Support surgery is part of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s wider programme of support for local businesses. This includes organising and running campaigns targeted at supporting the local high street and encouraging residents to visit their local town centres as well as a free grant finder service, workshops throughout the year and discretionary rate relief on businesses premises. In addition, through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Newark and Sherwood District Council have funded programmes such as the Business Growth and Resilience Programme and the Rural Business Investment scheme, which provided in-depth, expert-led advice to businesses through workshops, tutorials and 1:2:1 sessions.
