Easter fun is free for local families at National Civil War Centre
Posted on: Tuesday, April 4, 2023The school holidays are here and Newark’s National Civil War Centre is inviting local families to come and play in its galleries for free with great activities to enjoy together.
Running until Saturday 15 April, the museum’s Easter event has seen it filled with family fun from fascinating family-friendly facts about their stunning objects to games, interactives and more.
The Centre’s Learning Team will be leading fun musket drills every day so that families can assemble their own troops and try their hand at being a Civil War soldier. The activity normally forms part of the museum’s brilliant school sessions and always sees a rousing response from excited children storming into battle with the replica muskets.
Celebrating the museum’s newest exhibition Tubthumping, a stunning display of ceramics by artist Emilie Taylor, there is also the chance for visitors to draw a design for their own pot and either display their wonderful creations for others to enjoy or take them away to put up at home.
Newark and Sherwood residents are being welcomed to enjoy all the fun for free with the Centre open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. To find out more, visit www.nationalcivilwarcentre.com or follow the National Civil War Centre on Facebook.
