New vaccination site at Newark Showground
Posted on: Friday, December 17, 2021Residents in the Newark and Sherwood area can now get their booster jab at a new walk-in vaccination site at Newark Showground.
Three new walk-in sites will add to more than 50 vaccination sites in the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area. The new sites, including Newark Showground, will open from 1-5pm Monday (20th December). After this residents will be able to get vaccinated at the sites 7 days a week between 9am and 5pm.
The new walk-in sites are:
- The Newark Showground - Lincoln Rd, Coddington, Newark NG24 2NY
- The Richard Herrod Leisure Centre - Foxhill Rd, Carlton, Nottingham NG4 1RL
- The Victoria Health Centre - Glasshouse St, Nottingham NG1 3LW
These additional sites are being added in an effort to vaccinate as many people as possible before the New Year and are in addition to the already established sites at Forest Recreation Ground Vaccination Centre, Mansfield Vaccination Centre and King’s Mill Hospital Vaccination Hub. The three sites will be available for walk-in vaccinations and are each expected to administer up to 1,000 vaccines each day.
Around 40,000 available bookable appointments are also now live on the NHS website at a number of sites across the District and more slots will also be added every day.
All those aged 18 and over are now eligible for a booster jab, and can book appointments by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website. Residents do not need an appointment for the new walk-in centres, however there may be a queue so it is advised to wrap up warm.
Regular lateral flow testing is also advised. If you need to book a PCR test, you can do this by calling 119 or visiting the government website. The PCR testing site in Newark has moved to the Old Highways depot (pedestrian entrance located on Kelham Road). In the interim, free car parking is available in a designated area at Castle House car park on Great North Road, Newark for those visiting the PCR testing site.
