Single person accommodation
If you’re single and looking for a place to live that supports your independence please contact us for information on the services available in the district. Priority is given to applicants with a local connection.
Private sector housing
We offer help and advice to owners, tenants and landlords renting property to third parties. We also match tenants with privately rented properties through our RealHome service. Call us on 01636 650000 to access this service as a potential tenant.
We’re also responsibly for legally protecting people renting privately, including enforcing certain safety guidelines. The council ensures that private sector homes, both privately rented and owner-occupied, are of good quality and meet the current legal standards. Complaints of disrepair and housing safety issues will be investigated.
If you are looking to rent a house in the private sector, private sector tenant guide (PDF File, 713kb) includes some important information including information on the landlords responsibilities to you and guidance on what to look out for when you view a property to ensure that it’s right for you and well looked after. The tenants' property checklist (PDF File, 713kb) is also useful when you move into or out of a property to ensure any damage and inventory is recorded.
