No Planned May elections 2018
Residents in the Newark & Sherwood District are advised that no local elections are due to be held on Thursday 3 May 2018. There has been national and regional media coverage of scheduled local elections and whilst some local authorities are holding elections, Newark & Sherwood District Council Councillors and Parish/Town Councillors are all elected at the same time. The last District and Parish/Town Council elections were held on Thursday 7 May 2015 and the next will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019.
100 years on - centenary of women's suffrage
6 February 2018 marks 100 years since the Representation of the People Act was passed, giving some women the right to vote for the first time.

Community Governance Review of Newark Town Council Boundaries
Newark and Sherwood District Council would like to hear the views of residents and any interested parties after Newark Town Council requested that a Community Governance Review be undertaken of Newark and the surrounding areas in light of the planning permission and site layout in respect of the development on land to the south of Newark.

Elected Mayor Petition
The Returning Officer must publish a notice each year giving the 5% figure required for the submission of a petition to the authority to hold a referendum on whether to have an elected a mayor.
