Local Communities

Join us on the day and make some noise with cow bells and shakers. Hundreds of homes and businesses line the race route in Newark and Sherwood so why not decorate your home, business, town or village.

You may wish to organise a community event or create some art. Our theme for Nottinghamshire is yellow but anything cycling related is welcomed.

If you live on the route itself contact your local town or parish council to find out about what is being planned.

We would like to share all of the activities that are taking place within the whole district and so please let us know what you are doing by registering your activity with us.

There is a lot happening in our towns and villages on route!

Take a look at the tour route in Newark and Sherwood, plan where to visit or how to get involved.

OVO Energy Tour of Britain Land Art Competition

This year the OVO Energy Tour of Britain is a running a competition to look for the best and most eye-catching land art alongside the route.

Part of the inspiration for the competition was the efforts of Coddington farmer Des Allen, who formed his sheep into the shape of a bicycle.

Anyone can get involved! Community groups, schools, businesses and land owners and farmers across the district.

The winner will receive a trophy and commemorative Tour of Britain prizes, while the runner-up and third-place finisher will also take home trophies for their efforts.

To find out more and how to register your planned land art with race organisers, please visit the Tour of Britain website where you can also find some useful tips and advice to aid your creativity, plus a ‘best of landart 2017’ video clip which features the Coddington sheep art as well as Girton Sailing Club’s bike of boats, plus a field with a giant ‘Retford’ sign.
