Southwell Neighbourhood Plan
Southwell worked on its neighbourhood plan between July 2012 through to its submission to the district council in November 2015.
Following submission, it was made available for public consultation between 12 November 2015 and 8 January 2016. The draft plan and a summary of the eleven representations received, together with the district councils own response are available to view below.
During the consultation an independent examiner was appointed in agreement with Southwell Town Council and the plan was examined during February and March 2016. The final report received on 13 March 2016 concluded that, subject to the modifications recommended by the examiner, the plan met the basic conditions and could proceed to referendum. The full examiners report can be viewed below.
With the support of Southwell town Council and, following its annual meeting on 17 May 2016, Newark and Sherwood District council approved the Neighbourhood Plan to proceed to referendum on the 22 September 2016. The Neighbourhood Plan passed the referendum and the declaration of result of poll was 1351 in favour and 109 against. The turnout was 26.93 %.
At its council meeting on 11 October 2016 Newark and Sherwood District Council adopted the Southwell Neighbourhood Plan.
The Southwell Neighbourhood Plan now forms part of the development plan for the district and will be used in conjunction the other components to determine planning application and appeals in the parish of Southwell.
