Benches boost for park users
Three newly installed benches at Newark recreation area will provide visitors with a much-needed place to take a seat and admire the views.
The site, off Clay Lane, is popular with local dog-walkers and for picnics and was in need of somewhere for people to rest up for awhile.
Newark and Sherwood District Council, which owns and manages the park, installed the new benches on June 7 following requests from park users.
Beacon war district councillor and council leader Davis Lloyd said: "We are pleased to have been able to provide these new benches. It's important to make sure our parks and open spaces provide the necessary facilities for those who use them."
Dog walker Jon Robb said: "I'm a regular visitor to the park and among a group of dog walkers who come here practically every day to exercise our dogs. It will be nice to be able to have somewhere to sit and watch the dogs play. There are also people who also use the area to have picnics so it will give them somewhere to sit down."
