Meals are being offered on a door-to-door delivery basis by a community kitchen with the support of Newark and Sherwood District Council as part of its response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Carriages, located at Newark Castle station, already offers three-course meals to residents and to assist their efforts, two members of Council staff are working alongside them every Wednesday.
It normally runs full-time as a sit-in café but has had to temporarily close that part of its operation due to Government restrictions put in place because of the virus outbreak.
You can order a meal by calling 01636 676129, which is then delivered to your door safely, adhering to social distancing guidelines. Meals are offered for £2.50 or free of charge to those in need.
There is also a pay it forward option available, so anyone can call the telephone number and donate money to help purchase a meal for someone in need. Meals can be delivered to Newark and surrounding villages but require re-heating on arrival until piping hot.
If you would like to book a meal for next Wednesday which will be delivered to your door between 3pm and 5pm, or you would like to pay for a meal for someone else in need, then please call Carriages on 01636 676129.
