New ownership of the Buttermarket

Newark’s Buttermarket and Royal Exchange is now owned and managed in partnership by Newark and Sherwood District Council and Newark Town Council.

A phased plan of action is underway that will see new long term retail, food and drink and high street services coming to the building.

We see the iconic Buttermarket as playing a major and strategic role in boosting the town’s retail, cultural and leisure offer.

Our plans

Building work will soon be undertaken to develop the downstairs area of the Buttermarket ready for new occupiers in the spring.
