This free, one to one session offers guidance and support to help you grow your business. It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and hosted by D2N2 Growth Hub in partnership with Newark & Sherwood District Council. In this one-to-one 90 minute session, a business adviser will provide guidance on a range of marketing topics and answer some of the most commonly asked questions such as:

  • How can marketing help grow my business?
  • What’s a marketing plan and should I have one?
  • How do I find and reach customers?
  • What types of marketing should I use?
  • How do I create and build my brand?
  • What can I achieve on a small budget?

Whether you’re new to marketing or looking to embed marketing into your business, you will receive practical advice and information on the tools, tactics and techniques to make your marketing more effective.

The session topics are not solely limited to marketing; you will have the opportunity to pose questions to an adviser on a range of business issues. From access to finance to expand, guidance on the latest legislation or practical business support, you will be provided with up-to-date, valuable and relevant information.

Depending on your business needs, a follow-up business review can also be arranged which is a free of charge service to small and medium sized enterprises across the D2N2 region.

Safety - It's Just Good for Business

Safety Pal in partnership with Optimum Safety Management are delivering an event aimed at Business leaders who want to benefit from intelligence, knowledge and the ability to protect their brand

Founder, Karl Spencer, Safety Pal will help businesses understand the change every business faces due to new legislation, new ways companies are prosecuted and also the new technology available for you and your organisation mitigate risk

Chartered Health and Safety Consultant, Chris, Owen, Optimum Safety and Thomas Enright, a responsible business consultant and former Head of Safety, Health and Sustainability at
Affinity Water will give an overview of the Corporate Manslaughter Act. They will use examples of prosecutions from various business sectors which have been undertaken in the past 11 years since the Act came into force.

Attendees will also have an option to ask about their Health and Safety challenges and frustrations, and both hosts will offer their experience and guidance.

Dignity at Work

Every employee has a role to play in creating a positive and inclusive culture within their organisation. This free ‘Dignity at Work’ workshop will explore all aspects of workplace bullying and harassment, helping you to recognise and challenge unwanted behaviour.

It is open to every job level and is a great opportunity to bring along your own examples and questions.

Growing Places Fund

Round four of the Growing Places Fund is now open offering loans between £250,000 and £2million to individual companies or organisations to finance capital (building and infrastructure) investment, resulting in business growth and job creation.

Funded projects must be located within D2N2 LEP’s area, covered by the administrative boundaries of Derby City, Derbyshire County, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County local authorities.

Funding is limited and preference will be given to projects which deliver on the LEP’s strategic priorities and key areas of economic focus. More information on these is available on the D2N2 Website and in its Strategic Economic Plan.

There is no cut off date by which applications must be received, at this time, though applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.

Business Assist Programme

If you're a trading business you can receive expert, impartial business advice from advisers you can trust. Running your own business can be a lonely occupation. What could improve this?

How about the advice of an impartial, experienced business person? Someone to act as a sounding board, providing focussed and objective assistance. If you think you could benefit from a fresh perspective the NBV Business Assist programme could be just what you need.

Grant in Enterprise 

As an existing business you could access up to £2,500 of funding to help your business. NBV have directly supported local businesses to access over £2m in grant funding over the past 3 years and they are now offering businesses in Newark and Sherwood the Grant for Enterprise.

Eligible businesses can claim up to £2,500 for specific projects or investments. In order to be eligible you must:

  • Fit the criteria of Small and Medium Sized Business (SME)
  • Have commenced trading
  • Only trade business to business, not retail or business to consumer.
