Writing and Poetry
- The Fosseway Writing Group
The Fosseway Writing group is a friendly, long-established Newark group with the following aims:
• To provide a welcoming and stimulating environment for local writers;
• To engage with, support and encourage local people who would like to try writing but don’t know where to start;
• To help members to improve and develop their writing skills;
…all through meetings, workshops, friendly socials and online interaction.
We hold monthly meetings at Knight’s Court social room, Baldertongate on the first Thursday of the month from 7 to 9 pm. There is a varied programme of speakers or workshops in all genres and we also hold two social events a year.
In addition to the speaker evenings, on the third Thursday we have an informal read-out session on work in progress or themed pieces which provide members with feedback and encouragement. There are also open competitions in different genres.
We have a stand at Newark Book Festival and have books by members available to purchase on Amazon (an anthology and a collaborative novel).
If you're interested in any form of creative writing we’d be delighted to see you. Our contact email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Please visit our website for information about competitions, meetings and speakers, as well as short stories and comments. You can also follow out activities and keep up-to-date with what's happening at Fosseway Writers by going onto our Facebook & Twitter pages.
