Tour of Britain Bunch SprintOVO Energy Tour of Britain

Nottinghamshire is hosting Stage Four of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain 2017.

This is the UK’s premier road cycling race that takes place in September.

Wednesday 6 September will see 120 of the world’s top cyclists racing a 175-kilometre stage from Mansfield to Newark.

The tour of our district includes Blidworth, Farnsfield, Edingley, Halam, Southwell, Kirklington, Bilsthorpe, Edwinstowe, Budby, North and South Clifton, Girton, Collingham, Coddington and Newark.

Southwell Poetry Festival

The Inspire Poetry Festival, Tuesday 11 to Sunday 16 July 2017, brings six brilliant days of performance, readings, talks, children’s events and workshops to four fabulous library venues across Nottinghamshire.

Southwell Workhouse will be putting poetry around the Workhouse to hopefully inspire any budding poets. There will be poetry dotted around the property: from the garden and pauper's path, to the rooms themselves. The poetry will cover topics related to the workhouse, such as poverty, health and society.

Visitors can contribute to a family fun consequence poem and for children there will be a word scramble.
