Local Communities

Join us on the day and make some noise with cow bells and shakers. Hundreds of homes and businesses line the race route in Newark and Sherwood so why not decorate your home, business, town or village.

You may wish to organise a community event or create some art. Our theme for Nottinghamshire is yellow but anything cycling related is welcomed.

If you live on the route itself contact your local town or parish council to find out about what is being planned.

We would like to share all of the activities that are taking place with the whole district and so please let us know what you are doing by registering your activity with us.

Be proud to be part of the Nottinghamshire Stage 4 race day excitement. Join in and help make this the most enjoyable and safe experience possible. This fun-filled day will have a range of roles from organising activities to looking after the general public.

It you live in a town or village on the route and wish to help out locally for example in Bilsthorpe, Edwinstowe, Farnsfield, Collingham, Coddington or Southwell please contact your local parish council. Our towns and villages will need help with decorating the streets, parking and crowd safety.

Businesses opportunities

Hosting the Tour of Britain in Nottinghamshire will really showcase the county to a world audience as well as attracting a surge of visitors.

Newark Businesses

Our economic growth team together with Newark Town Council are working closely with Newark businesses to make the most of this amazing opportunity within the district.

Corporate sponsorship

We are offering a number of sponsorship opportunities as part of the event.

Schools

Thank you to all the local schools who are getting involved with the OVO Energy Tour of Britain race.
Many schools are now closing early, using an inset day or supporting the event on route.

Look out for children from John Blow Primary School in Collingham who will be creating a colourful spinning land art display on the school field for the helicopter camera crews.

Thank you also to all schools who have taken part in the competitions to design the starting flag and end of stage trophy for the Notts stage of the race.

The flag winner will help wave off the riders at the very start in Mansfield and then the winning trophy design will be presented to the stage winner by our competition winner in Newark

If you’re back at school on the Weds 6 September, then we’d love your help to welcome the cyclists to Newark and Sherwood and don’t forget, after the tour has gone, it’s a great opportunity to book your Bikeability training whilst cycling is still fresh in the mind!
