The Wassail is an ancient celebration that starts the Orchard year. It is held on the old calendar's twelfth night. The aim is to scare away the bad spirits that will harm the apple crop with fire and loud noises and appease the good spirits with gifts.
This year, The Extraordinary John Starkey Bramley Apple Products company is inviting people to join in. It will start at 3pm with a short sing-song and hot spiced apple drinks.
Wear wellies and bring a torch and something to make a loud noise with. Someone will be crowned King or Queen of the Wassail.
