Marti Voce, Building Control
One of our very first Apprentices, Marti Voce, has continued to work her way up through the ranks since joining us and is now in a permanent post and on a career path working towards a Building Surveyor Qualification with the council.
In 2014 Marti was awarded the Local Authority Building Control's highly coveted trainee of the year award which is presented each year to a trainee who best exemplifies achievement and a commitment to public sector building control and a public service ethos.
Aimee Bend, Revenues and Benefits
Aimee joined us in 2010 as a Business Apprentice in Revenues and was recognised in the Newark and Sherwood District Council Annual Staff Awards “We’re Proud of You”.
Aimee went onto to secure a full time job as a Benefits Assistant and has since been successful in being promoted to a Benefits Officer.
George Hemstock, Park Ranger
Apprentice Park Ranger George Hemstock was successful in being awarded the Newark Rotary Club Apprentice of the Year Award for 2013.
In addition George’s course work was recognised by City & Guilds as an outstanding example and he was awarded an international gold medal award. He has since been appointed to the permanent role of Sconce & Devon Park Ranger.
Holly and Katy, Revenues and Benefits
Business Admin Apprentices, Holly Day and Katy Watts were successful in being appointed to the post Benefits Assistant.
Katy has since been successful in being appointed to the post of Compliance Officer in our Strategic Housing Business Unit.
Jordan Frost, Financial Services
Jordan was originally interviewed for a post of Business Admin Apprentice in Financial Services. During the first few weeks of his apprenticeship it soon became clear that Jordan had a flair for figures and we were able to transfer him onto an AAT course.
He is now in his final year and is due to qualify as an Accountant in September. Jordan now has a permanent post as a Financial Services Assistant.
Lewis McQuaid, ICT
Lewis joined the Council as an ICT apprentice. He quickly became a valued member of the ICT Team and on completion of his studies was appointed to the post of ICT Assistant Web Developer.
Luke Wynne-Higgins, Mechanic
Luke has recently been appointed an HGV Mechanic after joining us as an apprentice mechanic in 2013.
He is due to complete his qualification this September and has been successful in being appointed to the post of Mechanic.
Daniel Wetton, External Communications
Daniel was appointed as an Intermediate Business Admin Apprentice and has built up excellent working relationships with colleagues and other officers. He has completed his intermediate level apprenticeship and has now progressed to an Advanced Apprenticeship.
His development and excellent work has been recognised both internally and externally. Daniel recently won the Newark Business Awards Apprentice of the year Award which was thoroughly deserved and is a fantastic achievement.
